Dance Physiotherapy & Pre-Pointe Assessments
Supporting Dancers at Every Step of Their Journey
At Base Physiotherapy & Pilates, we’re proud to support the unique needs of dancers through our specialised Dance Physiotherapy services and Pre-Pointe Assessments. Whether you're a ballet dancer preparing for pointe work or a professional performer recovering from an injury, our team is here to help you move with strength, precision, and confidence
Pre-Pointe Assessments
Preparing to go en pointe is a significant milestone in a ballet dancer’s journey. Our Pre-Pointe Assessment is designed to ensure young dancers are physically ready for the demands of pointe work, helping to reduce the risk of injury and build a strong foundation for long-term performance.
What’s included in a Pre-Pointe Assessment:
· Detailed evaluation of foot and ankle strength, flexibility, and alignment
· Assessment of turnout, core stability, balance, and lower limb control
· Functional movement testing tailored to ballet technique
· Education and guidance for dancers, parents, and teachers
· Individualised exercises to address any areas needing development
This comprehensive assessment gives dancers and teachers the peace of mind that pointe work is being introduced at the right time, with safety and longevity in mind.
Dance Physiotherapy

We treat and support dancers with:
· Dance-specific injury rehabilitation
· Chronic pain or overuse injuries (e.g. hip, ankle, back pain)
· Hyper-mobility management
· Pre-performance or competition preparation
· Strength and conditioning tailored to dance technique
· Pointe shoe-related issues and injury prevention
Our team understands the language of dance and the challenges dancers face. We work closely with each individual to tailor a plan that supports their artistic goals while prioritising long-term health and performance.
