What We Believe

We believe most physio visits treat the symptom, not the cause. At Base, every plan starts with understanding what's actually driving the problem, whether that's a knee that won't settle, a pelvic floor that isn't working the way it should, or a body getting ready for or recovering from birth. We combine hands-on treatment, education, and a rehab plan built specifically for your body, so the results last.

Meet Georgina Claxton, founder of Base Physiotherapy & Pilates

Base Physiotherapy & Pilates was founded by Georgina Claxton in 2023, initially as Georgina Claxton Physiotherapy, before growing into Base Physiotherapy & Pilates in 2025 — bringing specialist Physio Drummoyne and physiotherapist-led Clinical Pilates to Sydney's Inner West.

Georgina holds a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science and a Master of Physiotherapy from the University of Sydney, with further training in Women's Health Physiotherapy, Pelvic Health, and Clinical Pilates. She and every physiotherapist on the Base Physiotherapy and Pilates team are registered with the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA).

Her interest in movement and rehabilitation began through her own experience with sport, Pilates, and persistent back and hip pain, which led her to pursue a career combining physiotherapy, movement, and Pilates. She has a particular interest in Women's Health, pelvic floor function, pelvic health, lumbopelvic pain, and pregnancy and postnatal physiotherapy, and has shared this knowledge through workshops, seminars, and education for corporate groups, yoga studios, and Pilates studios.

Her approach is centred around understanding the individual, looking at the bigger picture, and helping people feel more confident in their bodies and movement.

In 7 years of clinical practice, Georgina has delivered more than 10,000 consultations in the last 4 years alone. Together, the Base team brings 15 years of combined physiotherapy experience to every patient who walks through the door.

Georgina is also part of the Reid Women's Health Focus Group, contributing to community-level efforts to improve women's health outcomes beyond the clinic.

Georgina has also featured as a guest on several podcasts, speaking on holistic patient care, women's health, and long-term wellbeing:
