It rarely resolves with rest alone

A stiff lower back, sciatica, a disc issue or a back slow to recover after surgery all need a plan built around the underlying cause, not just the symptom. Pain doesn't always start where you feel it either, it can be referred from the hip, pelvis or thoracic spine, so we assess the whole picture.

We start with a full clinical assessment: how your spine moves, how it loads under activity, and what's actually driving your pain. Back pain makes up around half of the cases we see at the clinic.

We also offer private health fund rebates, making it easier and more affordable to access the care you need.

Treatments Include

Your treatment plan is built around what's actually driving your back pain, and may draw on a combination of the following:

  • Manual therapy to ease stiffness and irritation and help restore normal movement through the spine and surrounding joints

  • Targeted exercise rehabilitation to build the strength and control your back needs to handle everyday load and get back to the activities you want to do

  • Movement retraining to address the patterns and habits, at your desk, in the gym or on the run, that may be contributing to your symptoms

  • Load management to help you understand how much activity is appropriate at each stage, rather than defaulting to rest

  • Clinical Pilates as an ongoing option once the acute phase settles, to build long term spinal strength and reduce the chance of flare ups

Where it's useful, we also use a dynamometer to measure muscle strength and real-time ultrasound to assess core and pelvic floor muscle activation, giving a clearer picture of what's happening and how you're progressing.

We treat a wide range of people with back pain, from new mums and dads through to younger adults, athletes and middle-aged gym-goers, helping each get back to parenting, everyday activities, the gym or sport.
